Local & General Symptoms

Sulphur is central remedy in the homeopathic Materia Medica; its symptoms may be found in almost all diseases.

It is therefore very difficult to prescribe Sulphur correctly, for it is often among the first five remedies to consider.

Sulphur is important intercurrent remedy, when well selected remedy fails; and in many cases leads to complete cure.

Child is pale, lean, with large abdomen, loves sugar and highly seasoned food (Psorinum). Hates being washed; worse after midnight.

Symptoms of the incontinence: Constant desire to urinate; a few drops pass involuntarily. Sudden urgent desire for urination which, if not satisfied, leads to involuntarily passing of urine (Thuja, Nat-m, Kreos).

Irresistible desire to urinate on seeing water running from hydrant. (Canth, Lyssin). Must rise at night to urinate; rushes to relieve the urging, and wets clothes.

The child won’t let to be covered at night; constantly draw the feet out from bed sheets.

Mental & Emotional State

There are two types of Sulphur – the philosophical theorizing type and the practical mechanical idealistic type. Even in children the two personalities can be observed clearly.

Both types hate to arrange their room, which looks like battle-field; but though nothing seems to be on place, the child is perfectly able to find every particular subject in its room. On the contrary, when the parents do the place in order, the child gets frustrated because can’t find anything.

Sulphur child has many ideas but no time to realize them, or it takes too much effort for its taste. These ideas are mostly impractical, mystic or philosophic projects, and none of them is brought to an end. The child thinks about the entire man-kind, has revolutionary and general ideas which aren’t really focused and are difficult for implementation.

Great imagination, main focus on its self, opinionated, knows lots of details, self satisfied child – this is Sulphur.

Causation

Practically every disease may lead to the need of Sulphur. In children cases it is mostly suppression and vaccinations, and overexertion. Sulphur is prescribed on constitutional and miasmatic basis.

Local & General Symptoms

Incontinence of urine when dreaming of urinating; the child is difficult to wake up by the irritation of the urine in the bladder, and cannot get up from bed quick enough.

The urine is pale, in large quantity.

The child wakes from very deep sleep but cannot retain the urine. The urging is so sudden, child can’t go quickly enough.

Worse lying down; better when walking or standing. Bed wetting in first sleep and in a very profound sleep (Causticum, Sepia). Wakes up with urging, but cannot retain urine; or dreams he is urinating and wets the bed (Bell). Urine is very offensive, it causes burning pain.

Worse during dentition, during rest, during the summer.

Mental & Emotional State

Emotional symptoms of Kreosotum may be found in this article. Dissatisfied with everything, great irritability. Child weeps from music.

Local Symptoms

This remedy has principal action on the bladder. Most authors write of it as a remedy to be given when no tangible cause can be established for the enuresis of the child but the poor habit.

Incontinence of urine day and night; urine is profuse and watery. Has constant desire to urinate. Severe pain at the end of urination; sharp, burning pain. Has dreams or nightmares while wetting the bed.

Typically the bed wetting is caused by irritation from intestinal worms in children. About mental and emotional picture of Cina there are details in the same article for worms. Urine is copious and involuntary, with worm symptoms and ravenous appetite.
