The preparation of flower essences is simple process, possible to be held in domestic environment. There is no need of any special conditions except sunlight and, for some essences, fire. All you need is clear water from a natural spring, or purified water, and brandy for stabilizing the flower extract. It is also possible to use medicinal alcohol, but no stronger than 50 percent.
It is easy to order Bach remedies from every online drugstore; but if you have an inclination to it, the self preparation of the remedies is much cheaper and, furthermore, will bring you satisfaction and peace.
A Little History
The instructions following bellow are based on Dr. Bach’s book ‘The Twelve Healers and Other Remedies’. Originally this book was written and printed from Dr. Bach to guide ordinary people how to prepare and heal themselves in domestic conditions. Having a gentle and noble nature, this man was not only highly educated physician, chemist, bacteriologist and homeopath, but also real humanist.
Early in his life Dr. Bach discovered that personality of people is of much higher importance than the physical symptoms, manifesting the disease. He was supporter and follower of Hahnemann’s work, but felt somehow that times had changed and so had the surrounding conditions; and so had the diseases it their variety and severity. He had a great desire to discover new healers deriving from Nature itself; a healers which to act softly, gently and surely; that are absolutely harmful and that may be understood and applied by everyone.
He often said about his practice with herbal essences, that non-specialist in medicine are his best followers; that their abilities to prescribe his remedies were better tuned, because they were not burdened with medicinal terms and postulates, as were educated and trained physicians.
Bach spent much time on open-air, observing the nature and especially the flourishing plants. He discovered, by personal experience, that morning dew found on the blossoms contains power, specific only to that particular plant. Thus he reached to the important invention that solar energy is necessary for extraction of the healing properties of the plant; furthermore because the dew he gathered from flowers placed on a shadow was not as strong as the one gathered under the direct sun light.
Thus Bach invented the solar method for drawing out the flower essences. Later he added one more way for that – the boiling method, through boiling the blooms in water.
Solar method is used for preparation of the following flower remedies: Agrimony, Centaury, Cerato, Chicory, Clematis, Gentiana, Gorse, Heather, Impatiens, Mimulus, Oak, Olive, Rock Rose, Rock Water, Scleranthus, the Wild Oat, Vervain, Vine, Water Violet and White Chestnut Blossom.
The remaining remedies – Aspen, Beech, Cherry Plum, Chestnut Bud, Crab Apple, Elm, Holly, Honeysuckle, Hornbeam, Larch, Mustard, Pine, Red Chestnut, Star of Bethlehem, Sweet Chestnut, Walnut, Wild Rose and Willow – are prepared by boiling in water.
The blossoms must be gathered during the brightest part of a sunny day, best at noon when the sun is strongest. Pick only the blossom chalice, without other parts from the plant. Pour clear water (from natural spring or purified) in thin, transparent glass container with wide neck. Put the blooms into the water one by the other, while entire surface of the water is covered by the flowers. Leave the glass under the strong sun light for 3-4 hours or less, until the flowers begin to fade.
Then you must lift the flowers from the water, without touching the water with your fingers. Pour the water into preliminary prepared containers from dark glass, till they are half-filled. Afterwards fill up the containers with brandy. Thus you’ve got the essence; into that container you will only stock it on dark, cool, dry place.
For healing purposes you shall use few drops from the essence, diluted into pure water. Never use drops from the essence directly.
Put the flowers into pure water in a pot and boil it for half an hour. Percolate the fluid through clean gauze into clean, preliminary prepared containers from dark glass, till they are half-filled. Afterwards fill up the containers with brandy.
Mark: For preparing the remedy ‘Chestnut Bud’ you must take the buds from the white chestnut tree just before their coming into leafs. For the other remedies you have to use small pieces of stem and young fresh leaves together with the blossom.
Stock the so prepared essences and use them in above described way.
There is no danger from over dosage of flower essences. It is absolutely harmful to accept them for unlimited period of time.
